The agency's acting director is refusing to answer congressional inquiries-because of the very lack of accountability Congress built into the CFPB's structure

Isn't it funny how he uses the exact thing that he was so vehemently against. And abuses the system to his benefit. Signature of Trump administration.

If the information reported in this article is factual/accurate, we have to respect Director Mulvaney's response to Senator Warren. Director Mulvaney is using reality for Senator Warren on what needs to be fixed with her Big Government politics.

Hopefully, though I doubt it, Senator Warren has had a change of heart in her historical lack of concern for consumers and will now push for a restructured CFPB that will make a connection to the real world that consumers obtain their home mortgages in.

Actually Mulvaney's response to Warren is designed to correct the fatal flaw in original "DNA" of the CFPB. By refusing to answer her questions he is forcing the issue of congress finally correcting the fact that the CFPB has been allowed to operate with no congressional oversight. Tactically it is a brilliant response and it is consistent with the Trump administration's position that the CFPB needs to be accountable to Congress.
